This year, the West African Health Foundation (WAHF) proudly celebrates 25 years of dedicated service. For a quarter of a century, our mission has remained steadfast: to improve the quality of life and health outcomes in rural communities across Ghana and beyond.
Our journey began in 2001, and by 2002, we launched our first annual medical mission in the Juaben Municipality. That foundational year marked the beginning of a phased malaria control program spanning 13 villages within a municipality of 156,000 people. Between 2002 and 2005, we successfully distributed 12,000 free bed nets, laying the groundwork for decades of community-driven public health initiatives.

Core Initiatives and Medical Missions
Over the years, our annual medical missions have grown into comprehensive healthcare campaigns, focusing on both preventative and direct medical care. Key components of these missions include:
- Malaria Prevention: Distribution of free bed nets specifically targeting vulnerable populations, including pregnant women and children under five.
- Health Screenings: Widespread community screening programs for hypertension, diabetes, and eye diseases.
- Public Health Education: Community-wide sessions designed to empower residents with essential health and wellness knowledge.
- Sanitation and Hygiene: Mass de-worming campaigns paired with the donation of vital environmental sanitation equipment.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Partners
None of this work would be possible without the unwavering support of our partners and dedicated volunteers. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Juaben Traditional Council, Juaben Hospital, and local community leaders whose collaboration has been the backbone of our outreach.
We also want to specially recognize the tireless efforts of the public and community health nurses from the Juaben District Hospital, alongside the countless volunteers who have selflessly given their time and expertise.
Thank you to everyone who has walked this 25-year journey with us. Together, we have made a tangible difference, and we look forward to many more years of building healthier, stronger communities.
