Walk for Sight – Over the Brooklyn Bridge

The West African Health Foundation (WAHF) is organizing an exciting and historic 10K WALK FOR SIGHT to benefit the completion of a state of the art Eye Institute located at Juaben, a rural area in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. This facility will provide expert eye care and preventive healthcare to tackle the issue of blindness in the under-served communities in Ghana.

In Ghana over 330,000 people suffer from total blindness caused by preventable diseases such as cataracts and uncorrected refractive errors (Ghana Health Service 10/2022). Of this number 75% live in Ghana’s rural areas with very limited access to medical care.

There is a direct correlation between blindness and poverty. People with this disability are usually excluded from the workforce, and have limited educational opportunities. They also face institutional barriers that restrict their earnings and their access to adequate healthcare.

The West African Health Foundation (WAHF) needs your help to tackle this issue.

Thus far, with your help, we have raised approximately $650,000 towards the construction of the Eye Institute.

We are hosting a Charity Walk to create more awareness and also to raise $800,000.00 to complete the construction of the Eye Institute.
